Firearms / Toolmarks Lab

Firearms & Toolmarks section of NFSA is a very significant part of the National Forensic Science Agency (NFSA). It is intended that the Firearms/Toolmarks section will impart facility for examining cases from Islamabad Capital Territory, Gilgit Baltistan, Azad Kashmir or any other referred cases. The experts possess the required qualifications and training. The protocols & SOPs have been prepared. The experts have got training in recognition / maintenance / operations / assembling & disassembling of small firearms from Police Lines. The experts have also been involved in imparting training in Firearms/Toolmarks to different agencies at the crime scene and laboratory. With their present skill level they are competent to handle such cases. This section will provide following services to assist law enforcement agencies:

  • Preparation of SOPs for Evidence collection, preservation, transportation and receiving at laboratory
  • Preparation of SOPs for Ballistics Lab
  • Involved in forensic awareness seminars arranged for Police, Prosecutors, Armed Forces and other Law Enforcement Agencies
  • Delivered lectures on Forensic Ballistics in Navel Headquarters Islamabad
  • Delivered lectures in International Forensic Sciences Conference (EuroForensics SouthAsia)
  • Indigenous and foreign training of technical staff
